we recently spoke with tONI hOWARD lOWE OF THE CORPORATE TEA to learn how She is amplifying hER voice through hER brand.

My voice deserves to be heard because....

I am the Founder of The Corporate Tea and online platform to help women and professionals of color navigate the unwritten and unspoken rules of corporate America. My voice is here to help level the playing field. Providing an inside scoop on the things you thought you knew but had no idea.

I want to help professionals move beyond just levels I want you to move ranks. Executive and C-Suite ranks have negligible representations of people of color which is inexcusable. There are so many micro-inequities and landmines that we just simply aren't prepared for and questions we never know to ask.

I want to help professionals arrive at the level they fully deserve by destroying inherent cemented ceilings.

My sole goal is to push the culture forward. I want to leave this world better than I found it.

When did you find your voice?

I think I was born this way... a fighter, resilient, a way maker, change agent. My mom jokes I sorta came out the womb telling her what to do. In terms, of The Corporate Tea I really feel like having more than a decade of Human Resource Experience really identified for me that there were gaps people who look like me had, as it relates to the corporate sector. And, when you see a need you just fill it. My sole goal is to push the culture forward. I want to leave this world better than I found it.

Did your upbringing shape who you are today?

Absolutely, I'm a first generation college student, great great grand-daughter of sharecroppers, granddaughter/daughter of blue collar workers, school teachers, civil servants. My inherited work ethic and access to what I have today was built on the shoulder of giants. Their roles were small but mighty in this world but a game changer for who I am becoming. The small steps they took to provide for our family created ultimately a legacy built around excellence in whatever we do...I'm grateful for that. My parents weren't college educated but it wasn't even a option not to be for me. I watched my collective village pour into me because I was the dream deferred. What that taught me is, it takes a village. That's really transcended into how I see my role in the corporate space. If I have access to sit at the table, access to influence who gets in, then it's my responsibility to use my voice as a member of the village.

Describe your journey? What was your defining moment?

The most defining moment is just seeing people respond to your voice, and your influence. The accolades, thoughtful notes, calls and people really appreciating the work you are doing and putting out. It's the affirmation that you are moving in the right direction.

Advice to someone in search of finding their voice in the entrepreneurial, influencer and creative space.

I don't think you have to "find your voice" you already have it. We all have gifts, talents, its about how best we amplify what's already inside you. There are are no original ideas... creativity doesn't belong to us, so don't focus on what others are doing just focus on what you are trying to create. No one can beat you being you.
